Doing it right at ULTRA 2014 – Every year taking it to the next level! Those are my thoughts as I visited the site of ULTRA Music Festival yesterday for my 7th year! Ultra will see over 160,000 music fans from around the world come together in Miami to see an amazing lineup of over 150 artist covering many musical styles on 7 stages. Many come for the massive show that is renowned for it use of lighting products and some of the largest stages Miami has seen.
Last night the LDs arrived for a long night of pre-show programming till late in the morning, they were fine tuning the massive lighting rigs in preparations for Fridays festival opening. This is a LDs lighting amusement park with everything a LD could want. Tons of moving lights, moving truss, tons of Pyro, massive amounts of Video and the best technologies this industry offers. The best in the game making it happen. Riggers and lighting techs were hard at work finishing the lighting rigs as the sound and back line crews started their task. This is a 2 week build and it’s almost 24 hours till show time.

The Carl Cox & Friends/ASOT 650 AG Mega Structure is filled with LEDs and will be the digital canvas for the World’s Top LDs. MADRIX will be their paint brush and it’s going to blow your mind. MADRIX makes its ULTRA debut and is proud to be part of the 10th anniversary of the Carl Cox & Friends. Hazebase supplies the perfect atmosphere for this massive structure that is one of the busiest stages at ULTRA.. Special thanks to LD Steve Lieberman, Andrew Gumper & Aron Altmark for their continued support and making Lighting magic. I think Rolling Stone left off a few of the most important guys in EDM off the list-Just Saying!
This years DJs include Carl Cox, Loco Dice, Dubfire, Peter Tong, Umek and Paul Van Dyk.

The Main Stage is amazing this year. It’s an LED Vortex that has to be seen in person to fully experience it’s depth and complexity. 32 rectangle video panels are accompanied by 64 Eurolite PMC-16s and 64 Eurolite STP-10s. When Pixel mapped with the video screens this massive stage becomes one! AG Lights has done an amazing job building this MASSIVE lighting rig. Can’t wait to see the visuals of Vello and Vsquared Labs making it happen. There is also major amounts of lasers from Miami’s Lasernet. Mutiple base*hazer*pros and base*hazer*touring*from Hazebase Foggers & Hazer will be providing massive amours of fog and haze in this challenging bay front environment. LD will be Mr. Patrick Dierson. Some of the performers on the MainStage include Tiesto, Zedd, Diplo, Kaskade, Avicii, Armin Van Buren, Krewella, Hardwell, Afrojack. My Pick Man this is a tough pick so I’ll go with any of the last 3 acts on each day! Picking between Hardwell, Guetta, Angello, Afro Jack, Avicii, Armin, Tiesto & Kaskade is just not fair.

The World Stage
MADRIX Slogan is Music Make the Light and The World Stage is the perfect place to prove this. The Mega Arch from AG Light and Sound has been expanded this year by a 3rd. The new large structure has an interesting 3 goal post design featuring lighting from Eurolite, LED Control by MADRIX and Haze provided by base*hazer*pros. Forty of the Eurolite PMC-16s Ten of the Festivals favorite, the Krypton 25s fill the Steve Lieberman designed World Stage. The center of the arch has a double truss chandelier surround by video panels and movers of all sizes. Performances by Carnage, Borgore, Datsik, The Glitch Mob Dillion Francis, Flosstradamus, Cedric Gervais will make this one of the most popular stages of the festival. The Live Stage
The stage with Live instruments (a rarity at ULTRA) that has some of todays best live acts in the world . The Euolite STP-10s and The Eurolite PMC-16s will accompany acts like MGMT, Chance the Rapper featuring Nico on Horns, SubFocus, Dizzle Rascal, Empire of the Sun, Infected Mushroom, Waka Floka. Paradigm Productions making it happen My Pick Chance The Rapper – Friday – 6:10 p.m.
Enjoy cuts from Acid Rap and featuring Nico Segal on the Horns and sing along to his infectious tunes.. This years rappers lineup is larger this year reflecting Miami’s love of the genre.
UMF Radio Stage
This Beach Sound and Lights stage features foggers and hazers from haze*base. More details to come on this stage that will feature Kill The Noise, Cazzette and 12th Planet. Visuals by Psyberpixie My pick 12th Planet Friday 9:00pm
Bayfront Stage
Features a wall of Krypton 25s and an underground lineup that will host up both upcoming stars and underground favorites! LD Joe Paradise will be providing his lighting Stylings all weekend. Gear by Garrett My Pick John Digweed Sunday 7:00 also check out Cirez D bringing his Detroit techno styles to Miami for a 2 hour set Sunday 9PM
